If you enjoy singing at a high artistic level, making life-long friends, and the opportunity to travel, the Cal Poly Choral Ensembles have a place for you. Three choirs constitute the choral ensembles offered at Cal Poly. PolyPhonics, The University Singers, and the Early Music Ensemble perform in a variety of concerts throughout the year, principally in Harman Hall in the Performing Arts Center's Christopher Cohan Center.
PolyPhonics, a 48-member ensemble, performs challenging literature from all style periods. They performed at the 2004 and 2005 American Choral Directors Association Conventions held in Las Vegas and Los Angeles respectively. From July 4-21, 2006, this ensemble participated in an 18-day performance tour to Austria, Hungary, Germany, and the Czech Republic with the Cal Poly Wind Ensemble.

The University Singers is a mixed ensemble of 60 voices whose repertoire is primarily works for larger ensembles. In addition to SATB literature, this ensemble performs works for Women's Chorus and Men's Chorus. This ensemble toured France from June 24 - July 5, 2001. Members joined PolyPhonics in a Cal Poly Performance Tour this past July, 2006. (See PolyPhonics above).

4:10 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Early Music Ensemble: This 8-12 member group performs repertoire from 1200-1800, solo, as well as ensemble, a cappella as well as with instrumental accompaniment. EME performs its own concerts apart from other scheduled choral concerts. Members must be in one of the above choirs.

Barbershop Quartets The Cal Poly Choirs sponsor a women's and men's Barbershop Quartet. These groups perform at national and international competitions as well as at all Cal Poly Choir concerts. Membership in a Cal Poly Choir is required. Auditions are held as membership openings arise.
Cal Poly Student Opera Participation and registration of singers and instrumentalists by audition and the recommendation of the conductor, producer and musical directors. Auditions for roles in the annual spring quarter productions are held the end of fall quarter. The one-act operas are double cast to allow maximum participation, and are performed fully staged and directed in Cal Poly’s Spanos Theatre, with costumes and orchestra. Operas recently performed include Mozart's "The Impresario, " Haydn's "The Apothecary" and Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas."
